River Remedy Brewing Company – Rome GA

Rome, Georgia is a great place to visit if you want to try some local beer. After our trip to the Pinhoti Trail, we decided to check out River Remedy Brewing Company. River Remedy is right on the Etowah River, located right on the outskirts of downtown Rome. It is situated where the Etowah and Oostanaula Rivers meet to make the Coosa River. River Remedy’s logo is a picture of the three rivers!

River Remedy is in a small building – there is seating on the inside, but this brewery definitely utilizes its outside space. We sat on a large, covered porch outside. Beyond the porch there are plenty of picnic tables. River Remedy also uses this outside space for food trucks.

When we have passed this brewery at night on the weekends, it is always packed. When we visited on a Sunday afternoon, we arrived at 3:00 pm, right after they opened. There were only a few people there, but it really worked out for us because we had our dogs. This was their first trip to a brewery, and it went well (woohoo!).

On our visit, 10 beers were on tap. They also had a mead, seltzer, and cider on tap. There were also non-alcoholic options – tangelo soda and cold brew coffee. The cold brew coffee was on tap! Next time we visit I am definitely getting some.

While we were there, I tried The Pumpkin Spice Must Flow stout, which had an ABV of 6.3%. I also tried the Sour Stereotype peach sour, ABV 5%. Jesse had the Oostanaula Great White Ale (ABV 6.2%). This one was Jesse’s favorite He also changed it up and got the Freya’s Golden Tears Tangerine Mead (ABV 5%). At an Oktoberfest event in Rome earlier that weekend, we had the opportunity to try their Fighter Fluid session IPA (ABV 5%). I am not an IPA girl whatsoever, but this one was actually pretty good! The pumpkin spice beer was smokey and spicy – it is not for everyone, but I enjoyed it. My favorite beer was the peach sour! It smelt like a peach gummy ring and was so refreshing.

I am glad we finally dropped by River Remedy! This is the closest brewery to us – and we will definitely be visiting again soon! See ya there!

Happy Trails,
Katie & Jesse

Tips for your trip:

  • River Remedy is dog friendly – there is lots of space outdoors for them to be (on a leash, of course).
  • If you visit River Remedy, be sure to visit historic downtown Rome! The Trails and Tap team love Rome and all the shops, restaurants, and bars it has to offer! The fact that it is on a river makes it even better!
  • River Remedy supports different charities. Their Fighter Fluid beer is a collaboration with Drowned Valley in Cartersville to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
